Every time you walk into a home, the first thing you notice is the home decor ideas. If it’s unappealing to your senses, chances are you won’t be visiting that house again anytime soon. There are tons of different styles and ways to decorate your home, but many of them can cost a lot of money if done properly. If you love having beautiful homes in your life but don’t have much money to spend on them, try these 6 DIY home decor ideas the next time you want to redecorate!
DIY Candles
Candles are lovely and can transform a room, but they also tend to be expensive. But making your own candles is actually quite easy, fun, and less expensive than buying ready-made candles from a store. To get started on DIYing your own candle magic at home:
- Buy wax and containers (i.e., mason jars);
- Melt wax;
- Add essential oils or fragrance
- Cool down;
- Enjoy! Voilà! Beautiful home decor for much less money than you’d spend on store-bought candles.
DIY pom pom wall hanging
Pom poms aren’t just for cheerleaders anymore. A DIY wall hanging is one way to add a little color and create a subtle splash of fun in any room. While you could use any material, pom poms are inexpensive and easy to find online, making them an excellent choice for your first DIY project. Once you’ve completed your project, display it in your bedroom or living room as a statement piece that adds color while letting everyone know how creative you are.
DIY bottle cap magnets
Turn old bottle caps into magnets. Fill a small bowl with hot glue and press bottle caps into it. Let dry, then place a magnet on top of each cap. It’s one of our favorite DIY home decor ideas because you can swap out your favorite pictures whenever you want to change things up!
DIY plastic spoon lamp
Assemble plastic spoons together to make your own lamp. The best part about making one is that you don’t have to go out and buy a lampshade. Save money by using what you already have! Plastic spoons come in all sorts of colors, so use your imagination and create an interesting piece that can be added to any room in your home or apartment. You can make a lamp with as many or as few plastic spoons as you want; it’s up to you how bright (pun intended) or soft you want it to be. Gather all of your necessary materials: plastic spoons, bulb/light, electrical cord (extension cord will work just fine), two-sided tape, scissors and glue stick or hot glue gun.
