ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR HOUSE DIY

3 Easy DIY Christmas Tree Decorations

Your tree doesn’t have to be bare to be beautiful. With the right Christmas tree decorations, it can be just as festive as the store-bought variety! And even better, it’s much easier and cheaper to make your own DIY Christmas tree decorations than you may think. All you need are some supplies, some spare time and the desire to make something special. These three easy DIY Christmas tree decorations are sure to add some Christmas spirit to your holiday season.

DIY Felt Pinecones

This super-easy DIY will turn simple pinecones into decorative holiday keepsakes. It only takes an hour and costs just a few dollars. This tree decoration can be made using either real or faux pinecones, but I chose to use faux ones because they’re cheaper and more durable. It would be easy to adapt these decorations for use at other times of year, too—perhaps a bunch of felt leaves for fall? There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating with felt.

DIY Paper Snowflakes

Perfect for a simple and festive decoration for your holiday tree, these DIY paper snowflakes are easy to make. They’re a great choice if you’re feeling less than crafty. A paper snowflake is an easy decoration that can be assembled with just a few pieces of paper, glue, and scissors. What You’ll Need: Red or green construction paper Pencil Tape Scissors Glue Step 1 Cut twelve to twenty-four 5-inch strips of red or green construction paper (four per inch). Using a pencil, sketch one large five-pointed star on each strip of paper, leaving at least 3 inches between each point. Make sure each star is symmetrical!

DIY Unbreakable Glass Ornaments

No one is immune to shattered Christmas decorations. Whether you accidentally knock over your tree or it gets knocked into, inevitably some of your glass ornaments will break. But if you’ve got a steady hand, there’s a fun DIY solution. Cover an ornament with clear nail polish and then sprinkle glitter over it to create a pretty, unbreakable effect. You can also take that same concept and apply it to snowflakes for homemade cards or gift tags. Or get really creative by using nail polish on smaller items like buttons, beads, or even thumbtacks for holiday accents in lieu of tinsel.

Pros and Cons of DIY Christmas Tree Decorations

Like most things in life, DIY Christmas tree decorations have pros and cons. DIY tree ornaments take a little more time and effort than commercial options, but they’re inexpensive, unique, creative, and can be much more enjoyable. The best part is that no matter how long you’ve been married, there’s always a new way to show your love during each holiday season. With that said, here are some pros and cons of making your own ornaments.
A few pros of making your own tree ornaments include that they are made with love, won’t break easily (if you use glass), can be more interesting to look at, and are good for teaching your kids about crafting. On top of that, you can reuse materials from year to year. However, there are a few cons as well. For example, it takes some time to make all your ornaments. So if you’re busy with other things during the holiday season it may not be possible for you. Another con is that making some of these decorations can get expensive if you have a lot of family members or are trying to create something elaborate.
